Hydras Ultimate Frisbee Inc. is a non-profit youth ultimate frisbee organization serving the homeschooling community of the Piedmont and Triangle regions of North Carolina. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, spirited, and positive athletic environment for all players.

Role Overview

Hydras is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible coach for our program. The ideal candidate has a passion for ultimate frisbee and experience working with youth. This is a paid, part-time, seasonal position. This position reports to the board of directors.

Seasons & Schedule

Hydras runs three seasons throughout the year from mid-August to April. Practices are held twice weekly (Tuesdays and Thursdays), 1.5 hours per session at Cedar Falls Park from 3:30-5:00PM. Coaches are compensated for 2 hours per practice session to assist with travel costs. Coaches are also expected to attend tournaments (dates TBD).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate practices focused on skill development, teamwork, and the Spirit of the Game

  • Model and reinforce Hydras' Code of Conduct, DEI Policy, and Competition Policy at all times

  • Communicate effectively with players, families, and Hydras' leadership via Slack and other approved channels

  • Ensure player safety on the field — no coach is ever alone with a player

  • Remain on the field until all players have been picked up and collect any items left behind

  • Attend and supervise players at tournaments

  • Report any concerns, incidents, or injuries to Hydras’ leadership promptly

  • Participate in onboarding and any required training

Qualifications

  • Playing experience in ultimate frisbee required

  • Prior experience working with youth strongly preferred

  • Prior coaching experience a plus but not required

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must pass a comprehensive background check

  • USAU membership required (or willingness to obtain)

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Reliable transportation
