Communication Access & Use Policy
Effective October 19, 2025
Purpose
To provide a consistent process for how families access and use Hydras’ official communication platforms (currently Slack), ensuring clarity, fairness, and a respectful community environment.
Policy
Access
Families who participate in the program will be added to the team’s Slack workspace and email lists.
If a family withdraws from the program, access will be removed in line with the Communication Access Policy.
Respectful Use
The official Hydras Slack workspace is not a place for harassment, grievances, or unprofessional behavior.
Families are expected to maintain respectful communication at all times. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental health, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.
Unwelcome comments on personal lifestyle choices (food, health, parenting, drugs, employment).
Misgendering or use of rejected names.
Inappropriate or off-topic sexual content.
Threats, intimidation, or incitement of violence, including encouraging self-harm.
Sustained disruption of discussion or repeated unwanted communication.
Publication of private communication without consent.
Grievances against individual members of the community.
Consequences
If these rules are violated, any board member may suspend your ability to post to Slack or other official communication platforms, pending review by the full board.
Rationale
This policy ensures that Hydra's communication spaces remain clear, safe, and respectful, while supporting positive participation from all families.
